Rene Genest
Rene is the owner of Storytellers Photography. He specializes in family, children, high school senior, business portraits and on location photography. Together with Joan, his wife, they have been the driving force behind the successful style, service and quality of Storytellers Photography. Rene earned his Master of Photography and Photographic Craftsman Degrees from the Professional Photographers America (PPA) and is a Past President of the Professional Photographers Association of New England. Rene is also a Past President of the North Haven Rotary Club and he is currently active in both organizations. |
Joan Genest
Joan began her career at the studio working in the business arena, while studying the technical and artistic sides of photography. Her love for people, especially children and brides led her to specialize in people photography. Joan is also a computer junkie. She spends many hours perfecting her retouching and enhancement techniques. Her efforts have gained her national recognition and well as many satisfied customers. Joan earned her Master of Photography and Photographic Craftsman Degrees from the Professional Photographers America (PPA) and is on the Board of Directors of The North Haven Education Foundation.

Steve Manente
Steve began his career in photography as a staff newspaper photographer. He excelled in sports photography and joined the staff of Storytellers Photography in 1993 where he began as a darkroom technician and sports photographer. He now heads our Sports and Team Photography department. Steve has the quick eye, uncanny timing and enduring patience necessary to get great action shots. In 2000 Steve was named the UJENA Swimwear Photographer of the year and traveled to Cuba for a photo assignment and a movie role. As a part of our team, Steve maintains a great rapport with our high school advisors, staff and students coordinating our team, sports and candid photography. |
Cynthia Bertuca
Cindy's high standards and organizational skills keep our inventory, quality control and production departments at peak performance. She runs all the behind the scenes operations in the office. Cindy keeps us supplied with all the materials necessary to give our customers great service. She has a skillful and artistic eye when it comes to color and design has valuable input into the creation of all our product lines. Cindy resides in North Haven with her family.

Harvey Goldstein
Harvey brings 30 years of experience in the photographic industry to Storytellers. Harv joined the team almost five years ago to assist in the everyday assignments that make this successful studio run more smoothly. Among his duties are to coordinate the elementary, middle and high school underclass photographs in the fall, the Kids Photo Contest to benefit the Tommy Fund for Childhood Cancer and to work with Rene and Joan on current and future projects. When Harv is not at Storytellers, he serves as editor of newsletters and magazines for several professional photography associations. |
Joan Melillo
Joan is a lifelong resident of North Haven and brings her friendly and knowledgeable skills to our customer service department. You will often speak with Joan on the phone and in person when planning your session. She is a devoted member of our team who cares for our customers and keeps us organized behind the scenes. She and her husband, Fred, are the proud grandparents of two baby girls with a third on the way. Joan is devoted to her family and her community. She is a past inductee into the North Haven High School Sports Hall of Fame and for many years her smiling face has been the driving force behind the concession stand at NHHS home football games.
